The Comex Group x Ace Hotel Palm Springs

The Comex Group – known as a manufacturer and distributor of quality paints and coatings – created a four-day and three-night residency at Alex Calderwood’s Ace Hotel & Swim Club in Palm Springs [California] by painting five of the hotel rooms with Frazee Paint. The residency collaboration of room transformation was designed by Comex Group’s Eduardo A. Harari and curated by Arkitip, Inc. The rooms were painted in chartreuse, blue, pink, turquoise, white and yellow – which are also known as Optic Play 129, Human Nature 140, 18:00 Urbanage 179, Reinvented Bloom 105, 00:00 Digital 183 and Optic Play 123.
The tastemakers in the world of interior design, architectural design, editorial, photography and motion picture were invited to participate
in the residency and inhabit the newly painted rooms – by experiencing a different room each night for three nights. During the residency, all the tastemakers occupied their individual assigned room, and on the second and third day, they switched into a subsequent room – with a
different color scheme.
The colors of all five rooms were subtle and yet mood altering. The Chartreuse Room 307 had a very beachfront and cabana energy during the
day, but soothing and warm at night. The Yellow Room 309 was vibrant and cinematic in color, and lit-up in the daylight. And the Pink Room
313 was bold and vibrant – without being overpowering and intrusive.
It’s yet to be determined if Ace Hotel & Swim Club will retain the Comex Group design – but one thing is for sure, its Frazee Paint colors and highly-designed residency introduces its occupant to the possibilities of doing more with one’s space – no matter how big or small the square-footage you’re occupying.
